What can you do to help Landslide victims in Uganda?
94 deaths confirmed, 400 people are still missing, 3 villages buried, 1,400 students displaced and over 33,000 house holds affected by the landslides and Floods. Currently 6,500 people are living in a displaced camp, and according to the meteorological department, the heavy will continue till June 2010.
The landslides occurred on the evening of 1 March 2010, burying the three villages of Nametsi, Kubehwo and Namangasa in Bukalasi sub-county Bududa District following consecutive days of heavy downpours in this mountainous area.
In response to the humanitarian crisis provoked in Bududa Ugandai by the serious Landslides on 1st March 2010, Africa Youth Ministries is appealing for donations to support relief and resettlement efforts.
CURRENT AND URGENT NEEDS
Landslide survivors urgently need the following items:- Temporary shelter, Tarpaulins, iron sheets, timber, Food, Posho, Beans, Cooking oil, Fire wood, Non food items (NFI’s) like:
Plates, drums for water, blankets, mosquito nets, Scholastic Materials, water treatment tablets, clothes, saucepans etc, as well as Community sensitization/education on hygiene. The situation therefore calls for emergency humanitarian attention towards the survivors so as to avert other after effects such as disease out break, like malaria, cholera, malnutrition and others.

Pray: Pray that God will comfort those who have lost their dear ones, family members, and friends as well as for God’s provision to His Children through this trying moment.
Donate: Donate to the “Bududa Appeal.” As part of the Africa Youth Ministries Emergency Response Fund, 100 percent of your donation will go directly to emergency response in Bududa Uganda. No administration fees will be deducted from your donation.
